550 Barchetta Fever Builds Up
The convertible version of the 550 Maranello will be introduced in 2001 but only in strictly limited numbers. It is likely that only between 250 and 500 units will be built.
It will be offered in Europe and in the Far East but because of the limited numbers there are no plans for homologation in the USA.

As a teaser, Pininfarina have released design drawings of a Barchetta that is based on the 550 chassis. It is said to be a piece of pure design research and is not related to the
550 convertible which will eventually enter production.
