David Terrien set a stunning pole time in the Giesse 333SP.

The BMS Scuderia Italia just failed to catch the winner at the flag.

The third round of the SportsRacing World Cup had another fine entry of six Ferrari 333SPs, although this was ultimately whittled down to five starters when the Tampolli Engineering entry failed to appear.

Qualifying started in wet conditions but as the track dried towards the end of the session David Terrien took the Giesse Ferrari to an outstanding pole position ahead of the Riley & Scott of Baldi/Formato. Further Ferraris followed in sixth (Zadra/Peter), seventh (Lavaggi/Filliberti), ninth (Calderari/Bryner/Zadra) and tenth (Waaijenberg/van der Lof).

The start took place in extremely wet conditions, with the Baldi Riley & Scott already being pushed off its front row grid position following an engine failure. The weather conditions for the race were atrocious and there were two safety car periods to retrieve cars which had spun off. By half distance the pole sitting Ferrari of Terrien/Pescatori had taken the lead but then slowed with a differential problem and fell down the order.

This amazingly led to first and second places overall being held by two SR Lights but the BMS Scuderia Italia Ferrari driven by Zadra was rapidly making up time in the by now improving conditions.

The Ferrari moved into second place and looked as though it would just catch the leading Lucchini but failed to do so by just two secs as the flag came down.

The Terrien/Pescatori Ferrari finished fifth overall but none of the other 333SPs got beyond the quarter distance mark.
