After the infamous climax to last weekend's American Grand Prix the racing world seemed not to notice that this race broke yet another record.

Ferraris' domination was already clear before this race, but the 1988 McLaren-Honda team still overshadowed it. That year Senna and Prost managed to score 199 manufacturer points in 16 races, way ahead of second placed Ferrari with 65.

This year's Indianapolis race marked the 16th championship round of this season so a nice comparison is possible. Note that in 1988 a win was awarded with nine points and not the ten of today, so for an honest comparison add 15 additional points! Unfortunately, McLaren still wins at most points…
