Shelsley Walsh Hill Climbing Extravaganza

The world's oldest motorsports venue, Shelsley Walsh Hill Climb, near Worcester in the UK, is holding a spectacular extravaganza from August 15 to 17. This will include a class especially for historic Ferraris and Maseratis. The full programme is as follows:

  1. Friday 15th - Practice for all cars (entry £6)

  2. Saturday 16th (entry £12) will see rounds 27 and 28 of the Tran-X British Hill Climb Championship.

    The big hitters in this year's title chase will be there including current hill record holder Graeme Wight Jnr whose Gould 2.5 litre V6 sped to the top of the historic hill in 24.56 seconds in June 2003. Wight Jnr, the 2003 Goodwood Festival of Speed winner, will be pushed all the way to the top by youngster Adam Fleetwood in a similar Gould but with a 3.3 litre V8 engine.
    Fleetwood has won many rounds already this year including taking hill records at other venues. Worcestershire¹s Tim Mason will also be there to push the youngsters. He is currently third in the title chase at the time of writing.

  3. Sunday 17th (entry £15) is an invitation-only meeting with the cream of the cars from the day before and then:
    -
    27 Modern Cars from the forefront of the British Hill Climb Championship including many of the top cars from the previous day's action.
    -
    7 Thoroughbred GP cars.
    -
    A special Ferrari and Maserati racing car class similar to last year, including the glorious un-silenced Ferrari 212E European Mountain Championship winning car from 1969 (ex Peter Schetty) with 1978 British Hill Climb Champion David Franklin at the wheel.
    -
    MG Rover Super 1600 Rally Car with 1996 British Rally Champion Gwyndaf Evans driving.
    -
    Warren Hughes in the brand new MGTF 500.
    -
    Le Mans winner Richard Attwood driving a BRM P261 V8 F1 car.
    -
    The 1970 March 701 that Jackie Stewart drove to victory in the Spanish GP at Jarama.
    -
    Le Mans winner Jackie Oliver in an original Ford GT40.
    -
    FEV1H, the Hannu Mikkola Escort that won London to Mexico.
    -
    A VSCC class including the W12 Napier Bentley and 9 ERAs including the Shelsley Walsh pre war record holding car, R4D with Mac Hulbert who re-set the mark on July 6th with 34.05 seconds.
    -
    A 1973 class looking back to the same meeting 30 years ago.
    -
    The Indy Maserati of Dean Butler and he'll bring his 1950's Indy Roadster freshly arrived in the UK.
    -
    Tarmac spec World Rally Cars.
    -
    20 Motorbikes.
    -
    Big Screen TV for the 3rd year in a row.

08.30 start for practice, 11.45 start of the class runs on both days.
