Goodwood Breakfast Club
Report & pics by Jonathan Tremlett
9.4.06

One Sunday in October last year the Sussex Area Group went along to the Vitra Café
adjoining Goodwood racing circuit, near Chichester, for a breakfast meeting. This was a relatively low-key, but very successful, trial run for a series of such meetings that Goodwood are hosting throughout the (hopefully) less wintry months.

The principle is simple: Each meeting is designated for a different group of cars and the main car park adjacent to the Vitra Café and the circuit is reserved for them. Parking is free and all may take advantage of the very fine range of breakfasts made from organic produce from the 12,000 acre Goodwood estate - this has proved to be a great success from the word go.

Last Sunday’s was the second such this year and, was the designated Italian Sportscar meeting. In spite of slightly uncertain weather cars were arriving even before the 8:30 opening time. This may have been the Italian Car day, but it is fair to say that although there were a fair number of Alfas, Fiats, Lancias and Lamborghinis, there were more Ferraris than all the other Italian marques put together. Indeed, I counted some 83 in total, from the oldest (250 SWB; 250 Lusso; a pair of 330 GTCs; a pair of Daytonas) to the newest (two 575 Superamericas and five F430s).

A chance to see some fabulous cars; to purchase and enjoy a fine breakfast and all with no admission fee! Make a note for your diary of the Supercar Breakfast Club meeting on 4 June. The full Breakfast Club calendar is on the Goodwood website.
