Just as the California reaches the showrooms, the internet is awash with pictures of what is said to be the chassis "mule" for the replacement for the five year old F430, internal number F142. There has been wild speculation about V10 engines and turbocharging, but most are settling down to the idea that it will have a V8 enlarged to 4.5 litres with more revs and be called.... the F450.

There is also continuing speculation that the new tipo might be the first all-wheel drive Ferrari, to take on the Lamborghini Gallardo/Audi R8, RS8 and the new Skoda Rapid.

Whether any of it has any thruth to it we don't know.....
